Navya : Open Source Community of IIT Kanpur

Navya is a community comprising of a group of students interested in improving the standard and quality of computing activities in the campus. Consequently, it is often observed that Navya has set out to make FOSS and Linux more popular, both in typical day-to-day use as well as in development related activities. Legend has it that the hidden agenda of Navya was and still is to conquer the world - we choose not to comment on that belief.

Navya was started by a bunch of kids for a bunch of kids and is now being run by another bunch of kids offering various services to the kids on the campus.

Most members hang out on #navya at freenode. Everyone is welcome to join them there and ask questions or contribute. People can also join the mailing list for questions, suggestions and criticism at navya@googlegroups.com or better yet, contribute those changes at Github.

Here is a list of few open source projects being maintained by Navya:

The awesome chat bot for #navya. A list of all the commands recognized by Narad are available here.

An AngularJS version of OARS data where people can search through course data using a prettier interface.

The very popular Search Junta hosted at search.junta.iitk.ac.in. It is possible to search for student/faculty using Name, Department etc.

A scraper written in Python to scrape the crappy IIT-K OARS website.

Modified openbiblio for use by Book Club, IIT Kanpur.
