Kendriya Vidyadlaya, IIT Kanpur is a central government school (affiliated to CBSE)
established in 1965 under Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangthan which is an autonomous body under
MHRD started in 1963. The main motive of such schools was to remove the inconvinience in
studies of children of government employees caused due to posting to a new place. These
vidyalayas has common courses which are being taught in both mediums Hindi as well as English.

Admission Process

Applicants have to register online for admission in the month of february. The results of
admission are based on a priority criteria defined by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangthan. Further
late admission is also carried out in the month of May in case if seats remain vacant.

15% seats for schedule cast, 7.5% seats for schedule tribe and 3% of total available seats
for Differently abled students are reserved.

Academic Achievements

(1) Olympiads and KVPY:

-Three students cleared Junior Math Olympiad 2015
-12 students selected for second round in 2011-12
-2 students qualify written exam in KVPY 2009-10

(2) CBSE Results: -Pass% of 95.82 in secondary examination 2016 with 29 students got 10 CGPA
-Pass percentage of 99.05 in senior secondary examination and 79.04% students got above 60%

Extra curricular Activities

(1)Students are also encouraged to take part in extra curricular activities for all round personality development.
(2)Cultural activities held on regular intervals.
(3)Students are divided into four houses named Shivaji (red), Tagore (green), Ashoka (yellow) and Raman (blue).
(4)Intra school sports competition held between the students from different houses on annual sports day.
